I just wanted to tell everyone to check out a site I did for Escobar Siding and Lead Removal based in New Bedford, Massachusetts. The url is escobarsiding.net. Jose Escobar is a friend of the family who has done some of the largest jobs in the area for UMASS and others. Good, trustworthy man deserving of your patronage.
I originally did the site by hand, but switched to iWeb because of a good theme, and how rapidly I could develop and maintain the site. I think it worked out well.
I’m also in the process of adding some new things to clarasboutique.net. Make sure to check that out too.
Sincerely,
David Lee Martins
I need to start this by apologizing to the people who have been waiting for some kind of update to this blog (and site). I’ve been really busy with school over the last few months, and the last thing on my mind has been this blog. I can’t really promise an extreme amount of updates in the future, either. I’m not saying that the blog or the site is going away, but I need to focus on getting both school work and side work done. I’m sure everyone understands.
School work has been my focus, but I can also reveal that I’ve been busy working on another site for a client (and friend of the family). I can’t give away the url yet because the site isn’t done, but I will definitely post it on this site. The site I’ve been working on is being completely hand-coded by me, and it’s coming along nicely. I just need more visual punch, and I’m trying to fit in some of the javascript that I’ve learned.
I’m off to bed, but I want to thank everyone for their patience and continuing support.
Sincerely,
David Lee Martins

I just wanted to tell everyone about a website I heard about on this week’s edition of The Macbreak Weekly podcast. It’s a gag site that claims to offer the ultimate in iPod theft protection. I won’t say to much. Definitely worth checking out the site at: http://hideapod.com
Till next time,
David Lee Martins
My six weeks of vacation is nearing an end. It was a fun, but stressful break. I had a wonderful trip to New York, and spent some great time with Starla. While I would have liked to have rested more, my vacation was great.
As I look towards school, I can’t help but get nervous. It’s just in my nature. The break was long, and I hope I can get right back into the groove with things. I know I have a tough schedule this quarter, but a part of me is also really looking forward to it. I can’t help it. I really love computers and programming. If I wasn’t going to school for it, I’d be at home doing it for fun. I just can’t wait to get more in depth with java and learning database design.
As for the website, I made some format changes and simplified my urls a bit. I’ve learned a lot since starting this and I’m sure I’ll make more changes in the future. I’ve actually looked into wordpress, going so far as installing it locally using xammp lite, apache server, myphp, and sql, to try it out. I really like how simple it is, and how easy it is to maintain. It has the simple, clean layout that I love( though you can customize it quite a bit with different themes and changing the css), so I’m seriously considering changing to that as my content management system. I need time to think about it, but the quickness with which you can feed new content is impressive, and that is an important factor for me. I could probably do a lot of my page by hand if I had the time, but I really enjoy just getting my content out there and having the extra time to spend with my friends and learning new things.
Besides a possible layout change, I’ve also been thinking about trying to push more blog postings out. Sometimes I get so worried about grammar and structure that I almost scare myself out of just writing things down and getting my points across. It’s something I’m going to try to get through, and I definitely have a strong opinion on a lot of topics.
I just want to remind everyone that my email address is freely available. I make a point of trying to respond to all my email as best I can, and look forward to hearing from people who visit my site. Although it’s not as immediate as comments on a site, I do like to hear from my visitors. I do get questions as to why I don’t have commenting on my site. I know it’s relatively easy to implement, but I just don’t want to spend the time moderating and deleting potentially crude comments. I know their is ways to filter out the comments, but having comments is something I just don’t see doing right now. Possibly in the future. In the meantime, I have setup a small guestbook page here. I was pretty quiet about it for the same reasons I don’t want commenting; the time spent moderating. If you have the time and want to leave me a quick little quip, just drop a line on the guestbook page.
Till next time,
David Lee Martins

I just wanted to let everyone know that a website I created for Clara’s Boutique in North Dartmouth went live this morning. It’s a nice, clean website for a wonderful business. Check it out at www.clarasboutique.net, and let me know what you think.
Sincerely,
David Lee Martins
